Model For Manager Feedback


This is concerning how I handle feedback with two specific managers at work that I tend to get defensive with them due to my practiced thoughts about them thinking I don’t do a good job at work.

Unintentional Model:
C- manager gives feedback to do something differently
T- they think I’m doing a bad job
F- self-conscious, defensive, disappointed
A- talking back and over-explaining my position
R- manager feels unheard and frustrated with my defensiveness

Intentional Model:
C- manager gives feedback to do something differently
T- I’m stoked and grateful that I have the opportunity to improve and correct course
F- cooperative, eager, motivated, grateful
A- respond in a way that’s welcoming of their feedback and happy to do a better job
R- manager feels heard and knows I can take direction well
