Model on feelings of not belonging


Hi Brooke,
Thanks so much for your program. It’s been a game changer for me in so many ways, and I’ve just started! I can’t wait to see what’s coming up for me!!

Here’s my model that I need help on:

Unintentional Model:

C: Church Women’s Retreat Nov 2-4
T: I don’t belong to this group
F: Isolated, separated, apart
A: Go off on my own, separate myself
R: Don’t belong to this group

Intentional Model:
C: Church Women’s Retreat Nov 2-4
T: ??
F: Belonging, acceptance on both sides
A: Engage with the group, be friendly
R: Feel like I belong ?

I’m struggling with the intentional thought. I’ve tried the thought “I belong to this group” but honestly I don’t believe it! I’ve tried a more neutral thought like “We’re all women” and that doesn’t help a bit, haha. ☺

As background – this is something I’ve been struggling with for 3 (THREE!!) years at this church, and it’s not just about the retreat, but that’s the circumstance I choose since it’s coming up and my anxiety is skyrocketing. I’m attending in HOPES THAT I’ll feel more connected by showing up, but this hasn’t worked for me before, so I need some new thoughts. I really, really want to break through this issue and move past it! Thanks, Brooke.
