Hi I’m new to Scholars and feel like being a mom of 12 year old twins isn’t easy.

My daughter’s friend lives behind us and we are friendly with the parents. Now suddenly she feels this friend wants to only hang out with her and gets upset when my daughter hangs out with anyone else. She sends her mean texts like “I thought we were friends, and everyone hates me.” This makes my daughter feel guilty and stops her from seeing friends she really likes.

Meanwhile the mom is constantly texting me pushing them together and saying because they are good friends her daughter should be included in all get together’s. Now it has affected our friendship and my daughter doesn’t even want to hang out with her daughter. How do I stay neutral and not control the situation?

At 12 you should be able to choose who to hang out with right?
