My thought is that to be an effective therapist, I need to free myself first

If I cant be free myself, then will I be able to believe that they can be free? And if I don’t believe that they can be free, how will I be able to serve them? If I think they are destined to suffer from self-judgment and problematic behavior patterns forever, then how helpful will I be to them?

I would never want to go to a therapist who didn’t believe I could be free. If my therapist only believed I could make some improvements but never be completely free, I wouldn’t want to go to them anymore.

Therefore, to be an effective therapist, I need to free myself first to prove to myself that it’s possible.
