Not valuing effort


Hi,
In the productivity podcast Brooke says about her employees – I don’t care if it takes you 3 hours or 10 hours to finish your task, the result is what matters. I get that, but not all times our effort produces the result we want. For example I am trying to implement something new at work and I get bogged with unexpected tech issues. So I need to put in more effort to get the same result.
I was taught to value hard work and efforts of people.
If we say that only results matter but not efforts, it is demotivating. Am I misunderstanding the concept here ?
