Ohhhh Mothers

I have not yet done all of the work on my mom, but have been thinking about my thinking about her with mothers coming up in other people’s situations.

This weekend, I ended up being in the background of a photo in the newspaper because I was at an event. The first thing my mom says to me when I see her is, “You don’t look as heavy in real life like you look in that photo.” I’m like, “Thanks!” I know she totally means well when she says this kind of crap, but when I spend time with her, I feel like I take about 20 steps backward in all of my work on positive thinking about myself. If she isn’t making critical comments about me, it’s about herself or someone else around us.
