Organizing Life When Husband is Not on Board

I’m reading through the Organizing Your Mind & Your Life workbook. I am in a perpetual project to get rid of stuff we don’t use or need. My husband does not want to get rid of things because we “might use them later.” I want a minimalist house AND I want my husband on board with it. He doesn’t like spending money on stuff we don’t need (or he thinks we don’t need) but he’s very reluctant to get rid of things that we already have that we don’t use, never have used, and don’t have plans to use.

I’m baffled by this. I don’t want to donate things without his input, because much of the clutter is things he brought into the marriage. When I ask him if he wants to keep something of “his”, he usually says “I don’t know”, but if I tell him that I want to get rid of something of “mine” he says things like “I don’t know why you kept that in the first place.”

Any suggestions on unraveling this? Whenever I try to have a conversation about it it goes in circles around his indecisiveness.
