Processing emotions by crying

Is crying a way of processing or feeling your emotions? I find myself crying by myself whenever I feel frustrated, anxious or stressed. I’m really trying to zone in on letting the bodily sensations flow and pass through my body instead of reacting by yelling, arguing or cursing when i feel negative emotions because of my thoughts. Crying helps me release some of the tension amd tightness i feel in my throat, chest and stomach. How does one fulling process emotions? I don’t use crying to get attention or as an escape just when feeling certain emotions.
