Processing of grief / Virginie

Hello Brooke,

I have been pondering about the processing of grief, as we all have to deal with letting go of people and things, even when death is not involved.
I am curious to have your opinion on this:

It is now commonly admitted that the processing of grief follows a pattern: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance (Kübler-Ross), and even more steps according to some others.

It seems to me this is just a thought ladder: moving from one kind of thoughts to the other, therefore producing these emotions.
It looks like a thought ladder that most of us somehow tend to adopt when processing grief.
But it would also mean that we also have full control over it, since it is all “just thoughts”…

What do you think?

Thank you ☺
