protocol help

I am wondering what to expect as far as planning a protocol goes. Once I find a protocol that works for me, where I am losing weight, will my body just keep on losing weight until I get to my goal weight? Or will I have to keep adjusting my protocol as I lose weight? I have about 30 pounds to lose, and my fear is that I will have to just keep restricting food more and more. I’m also having a hard time knowing what weight goal to set. If I eat only what my body requires for fuel, do I just let my body just lose weight until it naturally stops? Or do I set a goal and then keep doing whatever it takes to get there? Or is what my body requires for fuel subjective and I just eat more or less depending on what I want to weigh?
