Relationship to Your Kids

Hi Coach,

I was listening to one of Brooke’s recent coaching calls and there was a woman who’s son wants to be a truck driver. For some reason, this question and response stuck with me – and I don’t even have kids! I totally agree with Brooke in that the best decision for their relationship is for the mother to 100% accept the son and his desire to be a truck driver. But I did have a question that came up. What if the son becomes a truck driver and doesn’t hate it but doesn’t love it? And because the mother is 100% accepting she never exposes him to other ideas of what’s possible for his life? Is it ever appropriate to present other life ideas to your kids or loved ones … without inherently suggesting that those ideas are better than his current life (eg a truck driver)?
