Settling for average

I often find myself going through the motions of starting something and not finishing. For example, I will buy healthy foods with the intention of meal planning and then do nothing about it.

I also have recently purchased a blood glucose monitor to manage my blood sugar thinking that seeing the data will prompt me to make better food choices, but again-not doing much about it.

I am aware and remind myself that I am doing this for me, there is no obligation to do it, and that I like my reasons for doing but I am lacking the follow-through. Any suggestions or insights here?
