should i quit drinking

I do not always follow my drink protocol. I have a problem w overdrinking. I also smoke cigarettes when I drink on the weekends. I desperately want to stop overdrinking and smoking (which i never do otherwise). I have watched videos, listened to podcasts, worked on allowing urges, done worksheets and had some success.
My question is: when is it apparent that I should just give up drinking? Should I continue the work I am doing (it has been about a month w scs preceded by years of overdrinking/smoking issues) ?
