Sitting Through an Urge


I am becoming more aware of my urges to overeat and snack. In the past I’ve either resisted or succumb to urges, never really feeling the urge through till the end. Which leads me to…what is the end?

I can feel the urge and can pinpoint the sensations in my body (tingle in elbows, anxiousness, shallow breathing, fleeting thoughts, etc). But I’m not sure what to do from here. Just sit through it? Are there other questions I should be asking myself, self awareness type questions? Is the other side of the urge not wanting to snack, for example? What are some thoughts to experiment with?
