In working today’s exercises, my desired emotion is “calm” and when I came to how I want to generate this what came to me was a picture of the bell at the Omega retreat centers’ sanctuary that I took some years ago when I was there. Can it be that creating intentional emotions takes attention to thought – but that those thoughts can be in images rather than in words??
I’m a fairly visual person, and in playing with this idea am realizing that often images can create emotions for me, without actual conscious word-thoughts forming. I experience body-sensations (i.e. feelings) just by looking at the image – whether in real life or just in my mind.
I guess my question is “is this ok?”, or just looking to get your thoughts. Thanks!
