Trouble replacing a thought

My husband zoned out while listening to me. My thought (unintentional model) was “he thinks his work is more important than mine.” I actually know this is not true, he was just transitioning from a hard day (I have been in *exactly* the same place.). It made me feel angry.

I tried to replace the thought with something not even positive, but neutral (and relatable since I’ve been there too) ‘his brain is decompressing / transitioning from a hard day,’ but I found that it wouldn’t stick. I kept being angry at him and doing passive aggressive things like insisting that I didn’t want to tell him my story, or reminding him of his housework.

Struggling to even get the first thought on a thought ladder to stick – help!
