True desire vs. false pleasure

I just read the following line in the August workbook and think my mind is blowing up:
“As humans, I believe our highest form of expression and evolvement comes from following what we WANT – our true desires and not our false pleasures.”

I buffer big time with food. I want to not want it, but still find myself going down that road. However, if I apply your statement above does this mean that when I am overeating I am really indulging in false pleasures which will never provide fulfillment because what I really want is my true desire? So, I can reduce the need to buffer by fulfilling or taking action on my true purpose?
