My Two-Years Old Manuscript Hasn’t Evolved

Hi Brooke,

Two years ago I started writing this non-fiction book about my struggle as a writer and writer’s block in general.
I kept letting it cool for long periods of time and recently picked up the 50-pages long draft I have so far and I was reading through and almost did not recognize it as my own. I kept reading and saying, ‘Well, that’s not true anymore…’

What happened is that (thankfully) I’ve evolved and so what I wrote then is no longer the wisdom I wish to impart today.

Perhaps then there is a benefit to finish a first draft as quickly as possible so one doesn’t grow wiser during the period of the writing.

I know you are in the process these days of rewriting an older book of yours and wondered what are your thoughts about this.
