Can you allow an urge for something that’s out of reach?

We had a cake delivered and it wasn’t able to be delivered that day it was scheduled for and that was when I had my exception planned. I realized I had such an urge to have it even though it wasn’t there and then I got frustrated. So I allowed the urge and the frustration. But I thought how interesting that I was having an urge for something that was out of reach.
