Urges with food

I don’t drink alcohol unless it’s a really special occasion or socializing. Even then, it’s not even drinking, it’s just sipping. I can’t stand the taste and smell of it. I want to have this towards food.  Like to be able to just look at it for what it is and not always have such drama around it when urges come up. So now I am wondering, is that even a good idea to practice visualization in that way to handle urges?

I have been noticing that at 11:30 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. I’ll want to snack on something. It’s on my plan to have it, but I’m usually not hungry. It’s more of a habit. Or when my three year old asks for a snack I’ll want to have one too even though I just had a snack myself. I even find that I would eat just so I can sit with my family during dinner time and not be weird just sitting there watching them eat. Meal time is usually how we connect with each other and disconnect from phones, work, and have open communication as a family. And I like that. But anyway, would I be creating a short-term solution to a long-term issue if I approach urges with that visualization?
