I have a Chrome plugin that pops up a quote on my browser window every morning – and this morning’s quote was from Martin Luther King Jr. … “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

It reminded me of the talk about love and politics during the Modelthon. How it’s not necessary to hate those who hate in order to help people affected in this current political climate. How the best way to fight hatred, bigotry, homophobia, racism, etc. isn’t through more hatred … but through loving. And how love isn’t condoning the actions of those who bring hate – but simply allowing you to be open to bringing more compassion where compassion is in desperate need. I loved what you shared.

I just loved this quote – and thought I’d share for anyone who was at the Modelthon (and those who weren’t who might need it). I think it sums it up – from someone who was really the focus of so much hate in his life. If he can see the answer to hate is love, I think the rest of us can work on this, too. 🙂
