Wants vs Goals

Is it better to (or can you) change wants into goals and remove them from the thought line? If so, where would it go in the model? For example: “I want to argue less with my daughter.” or “I want a better relationship with my husband.” or “I want to lose 30 lbs.” If you move it from the thought line, how would you reword it? Or do you need to reword it? Thank you
