When a manual rule is also a ‘value’

I’m noticing I can often let go of the rules in my manuals, but sometimes those ‘rules’ are my values that I think I want to hold on to. A couple of examples are:
Teachers should provide a reasonable level of care for children (not hit, yell, shame or neglect)
Kids shouldn’t bully

I know I can decide to think something different but that seems like condoning. These are things I want to keep believing shouldn’t. But right now I’m resisting reality.

Is there another way I can look at this? If something is genuinely my value are boundaries relevant?
