Why do we do things we don’t want to do

With activities that bring a net-negative result… why do we keep doing them? For ex, I don’t like over-facebooking. Being on the social network on and off throughout the day results in me feeling negative emotion. Lots of “bad news” being shared, and so on.

AND yet… I do it.


Part habit, yes, but when I log onto facebook and see lots of bad news (covid cases increasing, people dying, for instance), why do I continue to consume the news even though I’m not enjoying it?
