"You’re right. I suck."

I love my job, but my job requires me to take a fair bit of public criticism from time to time, and as a newspaper editor I also often print that criticism if it comes in the form of a letter to the editor.

If I were graphing my emotions about this job, they would look like an insane mountain range, with lots of highs and lows. Someone likes me – I’m up! Someone doesn’t like what I wrote – you’re right! I suck!

I feel hot burning shame, like, EVERYONE ELSE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS!! Why didn’t I? Then, eventually I come around to see that the world keeps spinning and people still talk to me on the streets, and no one has started picketing my front yard.

If you were to work a model on this, where to begin? And if there is more to do than a model, what would that be? Thanks!
