I’ve chosen not to drink so I can better understand who I really am

I’ve chosen not to drink so I can better understand who I really am without alcohol, to lose weight (not yet happening), eliminate nighttime sleeplessness and heart palpitations (success), and generally be more fully myself.  It’s been 36 days that I’ve  been alcohol-free. My question is about alcohol and mood/happiness. I see that I don’t lighten up easily without alcohol.  Brooke, do you have this experience?  How do you lighten up, e.g. in social situations? Also, can I expect to lose weight at some point?  I’m disciplined with food intake and not compensating with food or sugary drinks. Thanks, Brooke!
