Feeling Emotions vs. Creating more Proactive

I’m sorry if you have already covered this in your model videos, but I’m wondering if it is necessary to “feel” our emotions rather than just move to a different, more empowering thought about them? For example, is it necessary for me to feel fear when my mind makes up a story like “there is an intruder in your house waiting to attack you when you walk in?” Or can I just tell myself —”there is no one waiting to hurt you–your brain is just trying to keep you safe”. I have wondered this for years since it seems like some people (i.e. Byron Katie) truly DO see circumstances as “neutral” and genuinely don’t feel unpleasant emotions like fear, anger, irritation, grief etc. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this Brooke! And for all that you do for all of us!!!
