One thing at a time

I was trying to do a balance pose in yoga today, and my eyes were fixed on a spot on the floor. When I don’t think about anything else but that spot, I can maintain my pose. But when my mind wandered, even if my eyes are still starring at the spot, I lose my balance completely.

And I thought – this must be why Brooke tells us to only focus on one thing at a time. When we are distracted, there is no focus (even if we pretend like there is).

What do you do, though, when we get tired of just that one thing (like starring at that spot) before we get the results we desire? Can we take a break, and come back to it? By break, I mean, doing other things? Or will that not get us to where we need to go?
