I am dismayed by the rap lyrics and movies my kids watch. I know I can’t control the world’s output of misogynistic lyrics and terrible language, but I feel despondent and hopeless when I can’t keep my home as a safe and sacred place. If I change my thinking and accept that it is what it is, it takes away my frustration, but it still leaves my kids exposed to all of the negative bombardment. I teach them to make their own choices. Do I have to just accept that this is what they invite into their psyche? This does not align with our family values. How do I reconcile this from a parenting perspective?
