Resistance to the thought “Nobody can make you feel anything”

I resist the thought that nobody can make you feel anything. It feels like I will raise inconsiderate children if I teach them this.
I have worked on this belief (The thought as a belief), and sometimes it feels like I really believe it, sometimes it feels like I am brainwashing myself to believe it, and sometimes I am sure it is false.

I feel like this is stopping a lot of my development forward on many other fields of thought work as well.

Can you point me in a direction to keep working on this?
