Setting a date to reach a goal.

I’m having a hard time understanding setting a date to reach a goal. Brooke says to set a date, but if you can’t reach it, extend the date. But don’t go into it with the attitude that you can just extend it if you need to… She also says to set a goal that will challenge us, but that can be reached in the time we set, but then she encourages us to set an impossible goal… And then there’s create your future by deciding intentionally, but don’t worry when it doesn’t actually happen the way you thought. These all seem so contradicting.
I set an impossible goal. I worked out a plan to make it happen. I knew it was “impossible” but I still fully believed I could do it. The goal was $100K revenue from 1/1/2020 to 12/31/2020. Each month and quarter when I didn’t reach my desired numbers I readjusted the plan. I still always thought I could do it, I just needed to keep taking massive action. As of 11/17/2020 my revenue is $1900. I’m still taking massive action, but it is abundantly clear that I’m not going to reach my goal by 12/31/2020. Now I have this thought, and so much proof, that I just don’t know how to reach a goal by a certain time. I know this thought isn’t serving me, but seriously, what am I supposed to do?
