Specifically Mentioning the Ethnicity

Someone in a community, while complaining about a behavior, mentioned specifically “an Indian man reached out …”

I am feeling very annoyed by the fact that she specifically mentioned “Indian.” I am Indian.

I then thought anytime I mention a complaint, I don’t say “that German woman” or “that Caucasian woman or man”—it highlighted her bias and I felt unsafe.

Can you offer some coaching on how I can navigate this and similar situations in the future? I know I have a choice to think about this and right now I am thinking—most communities have some racist people and this is so unfair. I also think that I have to do some things that are not in full integrity, but I have to be there to learn and grow.

I wanted to react to that comment and speak up but I felt very confused.
