First I would like to say how excited I am to part of this program. I have been listening to your Podcast since the start and find them very insightful and beneficial.
One of my main goals this year is to lose all of the weight that I gained in the last three years. I went from a very fit and trim (size 4) 47-year-old to a matronly looking 50-year-old. Yes, you guessed it, perimenopause. Never thought it would be such a game changer for me. All of my health habits and tried and true weight maintenance protocols have failed me. Got a bag of new tricks, but success has eluded me thus far. I am taking bio-identical hormones and thyroid medication. I get 7-8 hours of sound sleep and meditate almost daily to keep my cortisol levels in check. I tweaked my diet and tried different protocols (including IF and ph360.me) and continue to do so. Ditto for my workouts. I have a Fitbit AND an Apple watch and track a bunch of stuff. I have a stand-up desk in my home office. I consulted a naturopath and registered dietician. I am an avid listener of wellness Podcasts and even do weird stuff like the Wim Hof method!
I believe in taking massive action and I am a tenacious person. So I decided to up the ante! I am excited to share with you that I committed to losing 19 pounds in 30 weeks starting today, January 1. I am using the StickK app where I signed a “commitment contract” to lose 0.65 pound a week or else $20 goes to a charity. This for 30 weeks; a grand total of $600 on the line! I am nervous but also excited about making such a commitment. I am looking forward to seeing how my resolve and resourcefulness will increase with this strategy! To be honest, I think it will force me to put ALL of the elements together in a consistent, sustainable and longstanding routine. That plus cutting on red wine 🙂
Any words of advice for a premenopausal woman? Any experience with the StickK app?
