The “Cost” of Failure


Hi Brooke,

I’m enjoying the chapter in “How to Have a Better Life” on “Fear and Failure” and like the idea that fear “should be pursued and perfected.” (pg 15). But what gnaws at me is the potential “cost” of failure. For example, striking out on an entrepreneurial path and leaving a “safe, secure” job with benefits. What if I fail and learn something but hurt myself or, more importantly, my family in the process? It seems we’re only an accident or illness away from financial ruin. I can’t seem to get past the Thought that this kind of experiment in failure is a luxury I can afford at this stage of my life…
