The pain of Resistance vs the pain of Presence

In her webinar, Challenges that Change You, someone asks a question about having cancer during COVID and Brooke talks about how the pain of resistance is much worse than the pain of opening to the emotions and the experience.

I think this is a huge piece of the puzzle that has been missing for me — when Brooke has talked about intentionally taking on challenges in the past, I always equated it with purposely causing yourself suffering or torturing yourself. I didn’t understand that taking on the challenge with openness doesn’t feel like torture or suffering, it feels like pain, and also like power and both are ok.

I would love to hear and understand a little more about this. How would this look in a model? What are some other intentional thoughts I can think to help this concept really gel for me? It’s so powerful, I really want to understand and integrate this concept!
