How long does it take to reduce desire down to zero like you have?

After one month of feeling awful due to unanswered overdesire for food, will the desire be gone? Greatly reduced? About how long does it take? I’ve been giving in to overdesire for food for almost 50 years. When my brain tells me that I’m going to die, I want to be able to tell it that it will get better in a month (or however long).
