Coaching My Boss

I transitioned full time into a coaching position that I created for the company I work for and have had a couple of one-on-ones with my boss. After completing models with him, he will just raise his eyebrows, shrug, and say: “Yeah, I see that but I don’t get how this is supposed to help me.” Or, when I describe the difference between his thoughts and the facts of the circumstance, he will turn the model back on me and say: “Yeah, well you think the model is true, but that is just your opinion. It’s not a fact.” He has also said: “You just have a comeback for everything.”

These are my thoughts:
He minimizes the power of this work
He acts like what I’m doing is stupid/trivial
He doesn’t understand the value of this work

I understand that when I think these thoughts, I lose confidence and I start to question the value of this work and also question whether he will see that I am adding value to the company in this role.

The statement that he said that I’m struggling the most with is: “Yeah, well you think the model is true, but that is just your opinion. It’s not a fact.” I do believe it is a fact that what the model reveals is true, but there is no way to ‘prove’ that and I don’t want to get in a ‘let me prove this to you’ battle with him. I appreciate any insights on this!
