Understanding Processing Negative Emotion

So I’m trying to complete my understanding of “processing” negative emotion. Processing. What exactly does that mean? We are asked to feel it in our body—Why do we want to feel it “in our body”? What is the benefit? To know it won’t hurt us? To know it’s a vibration? To get that observer mentality? Learn to recognize it in the future? Is “processing it” simply becoming aware of the thoughts driving the feelings? And sorting them out using the model? Or is it more than that? We are cautioned not to jump into getting rid of our negative feelings too quickly. Is it because they will guide us to our hidden thoughts? Thank you so much. Love this work.
